“ Juanita Cantina, a Mexican restaurant, replaced a well-loved bar and fusion food restaurant called The Bungalow across from Juanita Beach Park. While many missed The Bungalow and its closure felt sudden, Juanita Cantina is providing an excellent restaurant and entertainment spot for the locals. We are overdue for a visit. Parking is plentiful at the lot. We arrived late on a Sunday, after 8pm. Our server provided attentive service even though she was obviously tired by then. The restaurant is nicely remodeled, looking clean and colorful. We kept our order standard for an easy comparison. The Food: Camarones a la Diabla, $26 - 4.5 Stars Shrimps and mushrooms cooked in a spicy tomato and butter sauce is my standard order. Their version has a good level of heat. The sauce is also thicker, not as runny (soupy?) as my normal place. I quite like this variant. The rice is normal, ditto with the little dallop of veggies. Their salsa has a kick and it goes well with the rice. Carne Asada Fajitas, $25 - 3.5 Stars The dish visually looks good. The meat is however relatively few and thin layered on top of the big pile of bell peppers and onions mix. This dish should be at least 4 stars, but hubby is disappointed with the limited meat. They gave only three tortillas per entrée. Most places give four. Luckily, I don't eat mine, so hubby had enough for his meal. Even after eating six little fajitas, there were still bell peppers! The ratio is just 'off', but I was happy to take home the extras with my leftovers. Chips and Salsa, free with meal - 5 Stars We really like their freshly fried chips. They are the double layered kind, so you know they are using real tortillas to fry. There are bubbles and some crumpled bits. The salsa has a kick, which I like, too! ”
“ Great spot for lunch in Juanita! Typical Mexican menu with all the favorites. The carne asada fajitas were delicious. Large parking lot with free parking. Service was super fast and on top of everything! The restaurant space is quite large and perfect for bigger groups. They accommodated our group of 12, even doing separate checks, all with ease. ”
“ Such a cute and delicious Mexican restaurant! The inside was very cute and servers were very attentive. The food was so tasty. I ordered the adobada tacos and they were delicious! I loved the addition of the pineapple for sweetness and the amount of guacamole completed it! Very good size dishes and the margaritas are very good. Overall for price, flavor, and service I would highly recommend! ”
“ This used to be one of my favorite places when it was known as as The Bungalow. Unfortunately, (because I no longer have access to their amazing roasted Brussels spouts), but fortunately because this place ROCKS! Nice remodel to the interior. Still a great place to watch the game. Service is friendly and speedy. My guacamole arrived in less than 3 min. (btw the place is busy) The guacamole looks and tastes as though it was just made! If the guac ain't good this is a good indication of what is to come. Highly recommend this place! ”
“ First time in a long time I felt the server deserved the tip (I'm talking randomly) but our waiter here was great! Super attentive and it was nice! Food was great simple family Mexican. Consistently good! The place is very basic family Mexican restaurant, nothing fancy , but awesome, casual , and just what we wanted for a quick meal ”
“ This is a good Mexican restaurant. I ordered two entrees, one consisted of chorizo tacos, the other was a cream shrimp dish; both meals had good flavor, but the cream shrimp dish had a little too much sour cream. Overall the entrees were good. The staff provided good service. ”
“ I was passing through Juanita and I was starving at that moment. I noticed this nice modern looking Mexican Restaurant and asked myself if I was craving for that...most definitely yes! Anything at this point. I walked in the place just few minutes early before they actually opened up. The friendly owner (I later found out) kindly welcomed me in and I helped myself at the bar. It felt really nice and relaxing to be the only customer there. The interior design of the restaurant was really cool, modern and hip lookin'! Not to mention very clean as well. Anyway, the owner was super friendly and accommodating in deciding what I wanted to eat. I decided to have their Tacos Birria and man, they were delicious! Not just cus I was starving, they truly were amazing. Full of flavor and great texture on every bite. Yes, like everyone else said about their salsa and chips were also so super good! Very fresh and great taste all together. I told the owner how much I liked everything and that I plan on bringing my friends here next time. He was super happy to hear that. Highly recommend if you want to have a chill evening with a beer at the bar or a nice cozy evening with some delicious food. Check them out and tell them Felipe (Philip) sent you! Enjoy! ”
“ Stumbled on this place today when visiting the area for work. It was mildly busy in the early afternoon with a couple of families in the restaurant area and maybe 7-8 people at the bar. Server and bartender were both hustling and making sure to help everyone out. Overall a pretty chill vibe going on. Sat down at the bar and got super quick service. It also just happened to be happy hour which is always a fun surprise. Ended up getting the taquitos from the happy hour menu. They came out pretty quick and hit the spot. Guy next to me got the chicken quesadilla and honestly I was a little jealous. It was stacked and looked so good. ”
“ We finally tried this great new Mexican Cantina that is close to home and it was pretty darned good. We have frequented Plaza Garcia in the past (love it) and knew that this location is owned by the same people so we had to try it. Juanita Cantina is more of a sports bar with a large bar area but also ample seating. It is definitely more casual and noisy than their restaurant up the hill. I can see us coming here for a drink and to watch a game on one of their TV's. Last night we came for dinner and to check it out. I started with a 24oz Modelo draft which was served picture perfect. We were served homemade chips and salsa and the chips are definitely worth a trip here as they are fresh and crisp and authentic. I had the Casa Burrito with chicken and my wife had the Mole Enchiladas. The mole sauce here is extraordinary! It is both savory and slightly sweet at the same time and well made. My wife pointed out how her enchilada dish had a base layer of cheese which really added flavor to each forkful of rice, mole or black beans. Nice touch. I liked my burrito as well but will definitely try the mole on my next visit. I think this place will do well in this location and with their excellent food and busy atmosphere. There were non stop people coming and going throughout our dinner. ”
